Rocs are huge birds that are capable of catching a horse in it’s talons and flying away with it to eat at it’s roste. These great birds have become a terrible nuissance to settlers trying to move inland of the continent. They often attack caravans, steal horses and lifestock, catch and eat people, and frighten townsfolk.
Early settlers were forced to send word back to there kingdoms to ask for aid. They recieved ballistas and scorpions to help them with the beasts, along with engineers to man them. Since this time, the population of rocs, especially those near human populations, have dwindled or disappeared. Now, most towns are very rarely attacked by rocs, and if they are they can send for help, as usually a roc will return if its hunt was successful.
